FORTUNE HUNTER
Fox, 7-8 p.m.
*CONCEPT: A TV version of James Bond.
*THE SCOOP: English nobody Mark Frankel (ex-beau of Sela Ward's Teddy
on Sisters) portrays Carlton Dial, suave, self-deprecating undercover
agent for Intercept, the place the CIA turns to when it has a really
sensitive case. Essentially a spoof of the spy genre, Fortune Hunter seems
like a recently discovered 20-year-old show. Frankel, who was in the
running to be the next movie Bond, seems all too game to become a beefcake
idol, much as he may demur: "Now, see, the men of Models Inc., those are
good-looking guys. Besides, I'm this classically trained actor. I would
only do beefcake if it was important for the role."
*BOTTOM LINE: A spy spoof in the '90s? Well, maybe males will be so
stupefied by Fox's NFL football coverage they'll stay in front of their
sets to watch this when the game's over.
